Introduction

Customized emails can help maintain a consistent brand image across all communication channels for reaching out to your customers. In this guide, we'll take a look at the basic settings for email notifications enabled in your account.

✨ Customizing your email settings and style is available to stores on the Essentials plan and up. Compare plans β†’

Sender Settings

By default, these will be your store's brand name and the email address associated with your Shopify account, but you can make any edits to customize the emails sent.

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar menu

  2. Click Email

  3. In Sender Settings, you'll find three fields to customize your emails:

    1. From name - Enter the name visible to customers in their inbox

    2. From email - Enter the email address visible to customers receiving your email

    3. Reply email - Enter the email address that replies will go to.

Explicit Opt-In

To ensure that emails are only sent to customers who have agreed to receive them, you can activate this option in Rivo. This guarantees that notifications are sent only to customers with a marketing status of subscribed in Shopify.

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar menu

  2. Click Email

  3. In Require Explicit Opt-In, turn the switch ON.

πŸ“ Note: This option can be disabled anytime by turning the switch OFF.

Custom Domain

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar menu

  2. Click Email

  3. In Custom Domain, enter your store's domain and click Save.

  4. You will be provided with a set of 3 DNS records that you need to add to your domain's records. Add these records according to your domain provider's process:

    1. CNAME hostname and CNAME value

    2. SPF hostname and SPF value

    3. DKIM hostname and DKIM value

  5. When you have added the DNS records, click Verify Domain.

πŸ’‘ The CNAME will be added as a CNAME record type and the SPF & DKIM may be added as TXT record types.

Important note on adjusting hostnames

Depending on your domain provider and settings, you may need to add edited hostnames as follows:

Important: Add the shortened hostname when you are adding the DNS records with your domain provider, not in the fields in our app.

  • CNAME hostname: Remove your domain name so the hostname is email

  • SPF hostname: Replace your domain (e.g. rivohc.io) with an @ symbol

  • DKIM hostname: Remove your domain name so the hostname ends in domainkey.

See the table below for an example, where rivohc.io is the domain name:

  2. Click Email

  3. In Branding, click Edit Email Design. From here you can:

    1. Change the appearance of your email's color schemes (Header title, header subtitle, CTA button, subtext, and footer text)
