Introduction
With store credit transfers, customers can send part of their store credit balance to friends and family through a shareable link, perfect for gifting, spreading word of mouth, and turning your most loyal customers into advocates.
✨ Store credit transfers are available on request
How it works
A customer with a store credit balance opens the transfer page in their Account Widget (
#rivo-transfer-credit)They choose an amount, add an optional personal message, and generate a shareable claim link. The amount is deducted from their balance right away and held securely until it's claimed
They share the link with whoever they like. The recipient opens it, signs in (or creates an account in seconds if they're new), and the credit lands in their balance.

Common questions
Can customers transfer points?
No. Credit transfers are available for loyalty programs that use store credit.
Does transferred credit expire?
Transferred credit follows your store's existing credit expiry setup:
Per-event expiry: The credit the recipient claims gets a fresh expiry date, set the usual number of months after the transfer is claimed
Bulk expiry: Claiming counts as activity, so the recipient's balance gets a fresh expiry window. The sender's remaining balance keeps its existing expiry date.
If your store doesn't use credit expiry, transferred credit doesn't expire.
Does the link expire?
The link itself doesn't expire, but each link can only be claimed once.
Can customers send store credit by email?
Not directly. Customers generate a shareable link for the amount they want to send, then share it however they like.
Does the recipient need an account?
Yes. If they don't have one yet, an account is created for them when they claim, so nothing stands between them and their credit.
