Customizing Your Membership Landing Page

Your membership landing page is where customers discover and sign up for your membership program. Rivo provides extensive customization options so you can tailor every aspect of the page—from banner text to benefit descriptions—to match your brand voice and visual identity.

This guide covers all available customization options and how to access them.

Accessing Your Landing Page Settings

To customize your membership landing page:

  1. From your Rivo dashboard, navigate to Memberships

  2. Select Landing Page from the submenu

  3. If you haven’t created a page yet, click Create Page to get started

Once your page is created, you’ll see customization settings organized into three main sections: Banner Settings, How it Works / Activity Settings, and Benefits.

Understanding Landing Page Sections

Your membership landing page is built from several key sections that work together to present your program:

The banner is the first thing visitors see. It welcomes members and encourages non-members to join.

What it includes:

  • Hero image or color background

  • Welcome title and description

  • Sign-up button (for non-members)

  • Login button (for existing members)

How It Works Section

This section explains your membership program in three simple steps, helping customers understand how to get started and what to expect.

What it includes:

  • Section title

  • Three numbered steps with titles and descriptions

  • Custom imagery for each step (added via Shopify theme editor)

Activity Section (For Active Members)

When a customer who is already a member visits the page, the “How It Works” section transforms into an activity view showing their recent membership activity.

What it includes:

  • Personalized greeting with their name

  • Current store credit balance

  • Activity table showing earned credits and dates

  • Membership status (active or pending cancellation)

  • Links to update payment method or manage subscription

Benefits Section

This section showcases all the perks included with your membership program.

What it includes:

  • Section title and subtitle

  • Individual benefit cards with custom icons, titles, and descriptions

  • Customizable order and visibility for each benefit

Customizing Banner Settings

The banner appears at the top of your membership page and adapts based on whether the visitor is a member or not.

Non-Member View Customization

Configure what non-members see when they first visit your page:

  • Title - Main headline for visitors (e.g., “Join our Membership Program”)

  • Subtitle - Supporting text that explains the value (e.g., “Unlock exclusive savings, rewards & VIP access”)

  • Sign Up Button - Text for the join button (default: “Join Now”)

  • Sign Up Button URL - Where the button links to (default: /membership-add-to-cart which adds membership to cart)

  • Login Prefix Text - Text before the login link (e.g., “Already a member?”)

  • Login Button - Text for the login link (default: “Sign In”)

  • Login URL - Where the login link goes (default: returns to account page after login)

Member View Customization

Configure what active members see when they visit:

  • Title - Welcome message for existing members (e.g., “Welcome to our Membership Program”)

  • Subtitle - Message confirming their membership benefits (e.g., “You’ve unlocked exclusive savings, rewards & VIP access”)

Customizing How It Works / Activity Settings

This section serves two purposes: it explains your program to new visitors and shows activity to current members.

How It Works (Non-Member View)

Customize the three-step explainer shown to non-members:

  • Title - Section heading (default: “How it Works”)

  • Step 1 Title - First step headline (e.g., “Signup”)

  • Step 1 Subtitle - Description of first step (e.g., “Create an account on our store”)

  • Step 2 Title - Second step headline (e.g., “Earn”)

  • Step 2 Subtitle - Description of second step (e.g., “Earn points for shopping”)

  • Step 3 Title - Third step headline (e.g., “Redeem”)

  • Step 3 Subtitle - Description of third step (e.g., “Redeem points for discounts”)

Activity Section (Member View)

Customize the activity view shown to active members:

  • Title - Personalized greeting with member’s name and credit balance

  • Subtitle - Description of the activity section

  • Activity Table Header Activity - Column header for the activity description

  • Activity Table Header Earnings - Column header for credits earned

  • Activity Table Header Date - Column header for transaction date

  • No Activity - Message shown when member has no recent activity

  • Expiration Warning - Text shown if credits have an expiration date

Membership Status Settings

Configure the text for membership status displays and actions:

Active Membership:

  • Active Membership Title - Title shown when subscription is active

  • Active Membership Subtitle - Subtitle with membership details

  • Update Payment Method Link Text - Link to update payment information

  • Cancel Membership Link Text - Link to cancel subscription

Pending Cancellation:

  • Pending Cancellation Subtitle - Message shown when cancellation is pending

  • Rejoin Membership Link Text - Link to undo cancellation

Customize the confirmation modals for payment and cancellation actions:

Update Payment Method Modal:

  • Modal Title - Heading for the payment update modal

  • Modal Description - Explanation text for updating payment

Cancel Membership Modal:

  • Modal Title - Heading for the cancellation modal

  • Modal Description - Confirmation message for cancellation

  • Modal Button Text - Text for the cancel confirmation button

Customizing Membership Benefits

The Benefits section displays all the perks included with your membership. Each benefit can be individually customized and reordered.

Configuring Individual Benefits

For each benefit, you can customize:

  • Show on landing page - Toggle to display or hide this benefit on the public page

  • Icon - Upload a custom icon image (recommended size: 42px by 42px)

  • Benefit Title - Short, descriptive name for the benefit

  • Benefit Description - Detailed explanation of what the benefit includes

  • Position - Number that determines display order (lower numbers appear first)

Benefits Section Text

Customize the overall Benefits section:

  • Title - Main heading for the benefits section (default: “Membership Benefits”)

  • Subtitle - Supporting text that introduces the benefits (default: “Here’s an overview of your membership benefits”)

Important: The actual benefits themselves (what your members receive) are configured in your membership tier settings. The landing page settings only control how benefits are displayed and described to visitors.

General Settings

These settings apply to your entire landing page:

Button Styling

  • Primary Button Class Names - CSS classes for primary action buttons (Join Now, Subscribe, etc.)

  • Secondary Button Class Names - CSS classes for secondary buttons (Sign In, Learn More, etc.)

Use these fields if you want buttons on your membership page to match your theme’s button styles. Your theme likely has predefined button classes you can reference here.

Theme Selection

  • Select a theme to work from - Choose which Shopify theme to use for your membership page

By default, your membership page uses your store’s published theme. If you’re testing changes on an unpublished theme, you can select it here to preview how your membership page will look when that theme goes live.

Editing Your Page in the Shopify Theme Editor

While Rivo settings control the text and content of your landing page, you can customize the visual design and layout directly in Shopify’s theme editor.

Accessing the Theme Editor

From the Membership Landing Page settings in Rivo, click the “Customize Page in Shopify Theme Editor” button. This opens your page in Shopify’s visual editor.

Available Theme Sections

Your membership landing page is built using Shopify theme extensions. You can add, remove, and rearrange these sections:

  • Rivo: Banner - The hero section at the top of the page

  • Rivo: How it Works - The explainer section (or activity view for members)

  • Rivo: Membership Benefits - The benefits showcase section

Adding Sections

If a section is missing from your page, Rivo will show you an “Add App Block” button that links directly to the Shopify theme editor with that specific block pre-selected for easy adding.

Customizing Visual Design

Within the Shopify theme editor, you can customize:

  • Background colors and images for each section

  • Text colors and font sizes

  • Spacing and padding

  • Column layouts

  • Border styles

  • Custom CSS for advanced styling

All text content from these sections pulls from your Rivo landing page settings, so any text changes should be made in Rivo (not directly in Shopify) to ensure consistency.

Connecting Your Page to Shopify

When you create your membership landing page in Rivo, it automatically:

  1. Creates a new page in your Shopify store titled “Membership Program”

  2. Assigns the template suffix rivo-membership-landing-page to that page

  3. Syncs content from your Rivo settings to the page

Managing Your Page in Shopify

You can access your membership page in Shopify at Online Store > Pages > Membership Program.

From Shopify, you can:

  • Change the page visibility (visible or hidden)

  • Edit SEO settings (page title, meta description, URL handle)

  • View the page’s creation and modification dates

Important: Don’t edit the page content directly in Shopify. All content is managed through Rivo settings and will be overwritten when settings are updated.

Adding Your Landing Page to Your Website Navigation

Once your landing page is ready, make it discoverable by adding it to your store’s navigation:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Navigation

  2. Select your main menu (usually “Main menu” or “Header”)

  3. Click Add menu item

  4. Enter a name (e.g., “Membership”, “Join Our Club”, “VIP Program”)

  5. Link to Pages > Membership Program

  6. Click Add and then Save menu

Consider also adding the link to:

  • Your footer navigation for easy access

  • A prominent banner or announcement bar

  • Your account dashboard or customer portal

Translation and Multi-Language Support

All text fields on your membership landing page can be customized with your own translations or localized content. If you sell to multiple regions, consider:

  • Using language that resonates with each market

  • Adjusting currency references in descriptions if you operate in multiple currencies

  • Testing how translated text displays at different lengths

Rivo stores all landing page text in customizable fields, giving you full control over the language used.

Best Practices

Content Strategy

  • Be specific - Instead of “Great benefits”, list actual perks like “Free shipping on every order”

  • Use numbers - “Save 15% on all orders” is more compelling than “Save money”

  • Address objections - Include FAQ items that answer common hesitations

  • Test your copy - Try different headlines and see what converts better

Visual Design

  • Match your brand - Use your brand colors and fonts consistently

  • High-quality images - Invest in professional photos or graphics for benefit icons

  • Mobile-first - More customers will view your page on mobile, so test on small screens

  • Clear hierarchy - Make the most important information (like pricing and top benefits) prominent

Conversion Optimization

  • Prominent call-to-action - Your join button should be impossible to miss

  • Social proof - If you have it, add testimonials or member counts

  • Remove friction - Make signup as simple as possible

  • Benefit-focused - Lead with what members get, not what membership costs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I have multiple membership landing pages?

No, Rivo creates one landing page per store for memberships. However, you can create multiple membership tiers with different benefits, and they’ll all be displayed on your single membership landing page.

Q: How do I change the URL of my membership page?

In Shopify, go to Online Store > Pages > Membership Program, then edit the URL handle field. Keep in mind that changing the URL will break any existing links to your page.

Q: Can I hide certain benefits from non-members?

The Benefits section displays the same information to everyone. If you want to show exclusive benefits only to members, you can describe them in the member view of your banner or activity section, or create a separate private page for members only.

Q: What happens if I delete text from a customization field?

If you clear a field and save, Rivo will use the default text for that field. You can always return to the default by clearing the field.

Q: Can I customize the page beyond what Rivo settings offer?

Yes, you have full access to customize the visual design in the Shopify theme editor, and you can add custom CSS in the advanced settings. Just remember that the content (text, benefits list, activity data) must be managed through Rivo settings.

Q: How often does the page update with new information?

Member-specific content (like activity history and credit balance) updates in real-time when the page loads. Any changes you make to settings in Rivo are reflected immediately on your live page.
