Awarding Entry Rewards for Surpassed VIP Tiers

Let customers receive entry rewards for each VIP tier they pass during a single jump, while still landing on the highest qualifying tier.

Introduction

If a customer qualifies for a much higher VIP tier in one step, they can skip over one or more middle tiers. By default, only the highest tier’s entry rewards are granted in that scenario.

When you enable Award entry rewards for every VIP tier passed in a single promotion, Rivo also grants the skipped-tier entry rewards, one time per tier.

✨ VIP Tiers are available on plans that include the VIP Tiers feature.

How surpassed-tier rewards work

When this setting is turned on:

  • Customers still move directly to their highest qualifying tier.

  • Entry rewards are also granted for each tier they passed on the way there.

  • Each tier’s entry rewards are only granted once, so previously earned tiers are not rewarded again.

For example, if a customer jumps from Bronze to Gold in one qualification event, they can receive both Silver and Gold entry rewards.

What counts as “entry rewards”

Entry rewards can include:

  • VIP tier rewards attached to that tier

  • VIP upgrade points or credits for that tier (if configured)

If a tier has no entry reward configured, there is nothing to grant for that tier.

Important behavior to know

  • Enabling this setting does not immediately reprocess all customers.

  • It applies when customers next qualify for a tier change.

  • If a customer already earned a tier in the past, that tier’s entry rewards are not granted again.

Turn on surpassed-tier rewards

  1. Go to Loyalty > VIP Tiers.

  2. Open Program Settings.

  3. In Advanced Settings, click Edit.

  4. Enable Award entry rewards for every VIP tier passed in a single promotion.

  5. Click Update.

Best practices

  • Configure clear entry rewards for each VIP tier so skipped-tier rewards feel intentional.

  • If you use upgrade points or credits, confirm each tier has the right amount set before enabling the setting.

  • Review your tier thresholds to avoid accidental large jumps you did not intend.

Does turning this on apply retroactively to all past tier jumps?

No. It applies to future qualification events after the setting is enabled.
