Gift Cards Overview and Setup

Set up gift cards in Rivo, including points-based gift card rewards and virtual gift card purchases through your customer experience.

Introduction

Gift cards in Rivo can be used in two different ways:

  • Customers can redeem points for a gift card reward.

  • Customers can buy a virtual gift card product and send it to someone else.

This guide covers both setups so you can choose one path or run both together.




Gift card rewards (redeem points for a gift card)

Gift card rewards let loyalty members exchange points for a gift card code they can use on a future order.

How to create a gift card reward

  1. Go to Programs > Points.

  2. In Redeeming Points, click Add Another Reward.

  3. Select Gift Card.

  4. Set the reward details, including point cost and gift card value.

  5. Save your reward.

If you do not see Gift Card as an available reward type, your store may not currently have access to that option. Contact support to confirm eligibility.




Virtual gift card sales (buy and send a gift card)

Virtual gift card sales are managed from the Gift Cards area in Rivo.

Turn on the gift card program

  1. Go to Gift Cards > Settings.

  2. Enable the program status toggle.

  3. Save.


Configure gift card product settings

In Gift Cards > Settings, configure:

  • Gift Card Products: Select which product(s) should be treated as gift card products.

  • Gift Card Image URL: Optional image shown in gift card experiences.

  • Gift Card Reminder Days: Optional reminder timing if a card has not been used.




Customer purchase experience

When customers buy a virtual gift card, they can:

  • Pick a gift card value.

  • Add recipient name and recipient email.

  • Choose a delivery date.

  • Add a message.

  • Add the gift card to cart and complete checkout.

After purchase, the card is created and available for use like a standard gift card at checkout.




Managing issued gift cards

Use Gift Cards to review activity and performance:

  • Gift cards sold

  • Gift card sales value

  • Average gift card value

  • A gift card table with order, status, sender, recipient, issue date, and remaining balance

You can also use the Gift Cards area to monitor how cards are being used over time.




FAQ

Why can’t I see Gift Card in reward types?

Gift card rewards are only available for eligible stores. Contact support if the option is missing.

Do I need to configure products for virtual gift card sales?

Yes. You must select the product(s) that should be treated as gift card products in Gift Cards > Settings.

Can customers send gift cards to someone else?

Yes. Customers can enter recipient details and a message during the gift card purchase flow.

Where can I track issued gift cards?

Go to Gift Cards in Rivo to view issued cards, statuses, and balances.
