Photo & Receipt Uploads

Let customers earn points by uploading receipts from in-store purchases or submitting challenge photos, with a built-in review workflow for your team.

Introduction

Photo and receipt uploads give you a flexible way to reward activity that happens outside your online checkout flow.

You can add upload-based ways to earn so customers can submit proof (like a store receipt or challenge photo), then review submissions and award points.




Which upload options are available?

Receipt uploads

Receipt uploads let customers submit receipts from in-store purchases.

You can review each submission and decide whether to approve or reject it. When approved, points are awarded to the customer.

Challenge photo uploads

Challenge photo uploads let customers submit a photo for a specific challenge you set up.

When you create this way to earn, you choose which challenge it applies to. Customers can then submit photos for that challenge and you can review submissions before points are awarded.




Set up upload-based ways to earn

  1. In your Rivo admin, go to Programs > Points.

  2. In the earning section, click Add Another Way to Earn.

  3. Choose either a receipt upload option or a challenge photo option.

  4. Set the points value and any advanced limits you want.

  5. If you selected a challenge photo option, choose the challenge to connect.

  6. Save and activate the way to earn.




Review and approve submissions

After customers submit uploads, you can review each item in your admin.

During review, each submission moves through a status workflow:

  • Pending: Waiting for review.

  • Approved: Accepted and points awarded.

  • Rejected: Not accepted, no points awarded.

For receipt submissions, you can approve with a custom points amount if needed.




Receipt scanning settings

You can configure receipt behavior from receipt settings, including:

  • Automatic approval

  • Fraud score threshold for auto-approval

  • How many days after a purchase date a receipt can be claimed

  • Which vendors are enabled for receipt scanning

If you do not see receipt settings in your admin, contact support to confirm availability for your store.




What customers see

Customers can submit files directly from your loyalty experience. Upload prompts include clear status messaging (for example, when no file is selected, when an upload succeeds, or when a submission needs review).

Challenge photo uploads are limited to one submission per challenge per customer each day.

Do points get awarded instantly?

Points are awarded when a submission is approved.

Can I reject a submission?

Yes. You can reject uploads during review.

Can I control receipt quality requirements?

You can configure receipt settings such as approval threshold and claim window to better control submission quality.

Can I use both receipt uploads and challenge photo uploads at the same time?

Yes. You can run both as separate ways to earn in the same points program.
