Common Questions
Will the app verify if a customer has fully completed the social media action before awarding points?
Due to restrictions imposed by social media platforms, we cannot directly verify such actions. Most platforms limit third-party apps from accessing specific user data. However, Rivo, like other loyalty programs, operates on a trust-based system. We've designed the app to seamlessly direct customers to your social profiles, and our data suggests that the vast majority do complete the actions. Rest assured, most of your patrons will genuinely engage as intended.
What's the difference between Twitter sharing for earning rules vs. referrals?
Earning rule Twitter sharing rewards customers with points for sharing specific content you define (like your homepage or a promotion). Referral Twitter sharing helps customers share their unique referral codes to invite friends. Both can be active simultaneously and serve different marketing purposes.
How do I customize the Twitter message?
For earning rules, set the message when creating the "Share Link on Twitter" way to earn. For referrals, customize the message in Programs > Referrals > Share via Social Media section. Use #{{shop_name}} to automatically include your store name in the message.
Why don't customers see Twitter sharing options?
Check that you've enabled Twitter sharing in the relevant section (earning rules or referrals). For earning rules, ensure the "Share Link on Twitter" way to earn is active. For referrals, verify that the Twitter checkbox is checked in the referral program settings.
Can I track how many times customers share on Twitter?
You can see how many customers have earned points from the Twitter sharing earning rule in your analytics. However, due to platform limitations, we cannot track the actual reach or engagement of the shared tweets.
Troubleshooting
Twitter sharing button not appearing in loyalty widget
Verify that Twitter sharing is enabled in your program settings
For earning rules: Check that "Share Link on Twitter" is active in Programs > Points
For referrals: Ensure Twitter is checked in Programs > Referrals > Share via Social Media
Clear your browser cache and refresh the page
Custom message not appearing in tweets
Check that you've saved your custom message in the appropriate settings
Verify the #{{shop_name}} template variable is spelled correctly
Ensure your message isn't too long for Twitter's character limit
Customers report sharing issues
Remind customers that sharing opens in a new window - they may need to allow popups
Explain that they need to complete the sharing action on Twitter to earn points
Note that our system operates on trust - we cannot verify the actual sharing due to platform limitations
Points not awarded after sharing
Check if the customer has already earned points for this action (some earning rules have frequency limits)
Verify the earning rule is still active and properly configured
Points are typically awarded immediately when the share button is clicked, not when the actual tweet is posted
