Percentage Membership Signup Discounts
Signup discounts let you give new members an immediate incentive to place their first order. You can set this benefit as either a fixed amount (like $10 off) or a percentage (like 15% off), depending on how you want to reward new subscribers.
This guide focuses on setting up percentage-based signup discounts for your membership tiers.
How Signup Discounts Work
When this benefit is enabled, Rivo generates a unique discount code for eligible members during standard tier enrollment (not manual tier moves done in admin).
You can choose Fixed amount or Percentage
You can control where the discount applies (entire order or a specific collection)
You can optionally add a minimum cart value
You can optionally set reward expiration
Each generated signup discount code is single-use
Set Up a Percentage Signup Discount
Go to Memberships.
Open the tier you want to edit.
In Benefits, click Signup Discount.
In Discount Type, select Percentage.
In Reward, enter your discount value (for example,
10for 10%).Optional: Set a Minimum Cart Requirement.
Optional: Set Apply to as Entire order or Collection.
Optional: Configure Purchase Type if you use subscription purchase options.
Optional: Enable Reward Expiration and set the number of months.
In Status, toggle the benefit on.
Save your changes.
Recommended Settings
Start with a moderate percentage (for example, 10-15%) if you want to protect margin.
Use a minimum cart value if you want to encourage higher first-order value.
Add expiration to create urgency and encourage faster redemption.
Test the full member journey after setup to confirm the discount appears as expected at checkout.
FAQ
Can I switch from a fixed amount to a percentage later?
Yes. You can change the discount type in the same Signup Discount settings page at any time.
Can I limit this discount to specific products?
Yes. Use Apply to > Collection and choose the collection you want this discount to apply to.
Can I require a minimum order value?
Yes. In Minimum Cart Requirement, choose Minimum cart value and enter the required amount.
Why didn’t a customer receive a signup discount?
Check that the Signup Discount benefit is enabled for the tier and that the customer joined through normal enrollment. Manual tier moves in admin do not automatically issue this signup discount.
Will a customer keep getting new signup discount codes?
If a customer has already redeemed a signup discount from this tier, a new signup discount code is not automatically issued again.
