General Settings in Rivo

Rivo’s Settings area is where you control core account preferences, customer-facing behavior, data syncs, and technical setup options.

Use this guide as a map of what each key settings page does and when to use it.

Open your Settings menu

  1. In Rivo admin, click Settings in the left sidebar.

  2. In the Settings navigation, choose the page you want to update.

General

Go to Settings > General to manage your baseline program and account preferences.

Program participants

Choose who can participate in your loyalty program:

  • All customers (members and guests)

  • Members only

If you use all customers, you can also enable the option that allows those customers to be eligible across loyalty-related experiences.

Account and admin preferences

You can update:

  • Preferred email for account-level messages and exports

  • Admin list behavior for earning rules and rewards

  • Reward expiry timeframe unit (hours, days, or months)

Customer-facing preferences

You can also set:

  • Custom account register path

  • Custom account login path

  • Points-to-cash conversion rate display

  • Date format used in customer-facing email variables

General also includes:

  • Link preview title, description, and image URL

  • Revenue attribution toggles and attribution windows

For a deeper walkthrough of participant eligibility, see Program participants.

Email (Including Custom Email Domains)

Go to Settings > Email to manage sender identity and branded sending options.

Sender settings

You can configure:

  • From name

  • From email

  • Reply email

Custom domain setup

If your plan includes custom sending domains, you can:

  1. Add a sending domain (commonly a subdomain like loyalty.yourstore.com)

  2. Copy and add DNS records in your DNS provider

  3. Verify your domain from the same page

You can also remove a domain and switch to a different one later.

To use this setup, your Shopify store must already have a custom domain configured.

Expiration

Go to Settings > Expiration to manage expiry rules for both points and store credits.

For each balance type, you can:

  • Enable expiration

  • Set the expiration period (in months)

  • Choose an expiration method:

    • Per event expiry

    • Bulk expiry

  • Exclude specific source types from expiration in applicable bulk configurations

When expiration is enabled, Rivo also shows key timing details, including when expiry was enabled and when expiration starts.

For full strategy and setup guidance, see Points Expiry.

Shopify Metafields & Tags

Go to Settings > Shopify Metafields & Tags to control how loyalty and referral data syncs into Shopify.

You can configure options such as:

  • Order tagging

  • Order note attributes

  • Customer referral and advocate tags

  • Customer metafields sync

Some advanced tagging options are only available for certain store configurations.

At the bottom of this page, use Sync Store in the troubleshooting section to backfill sync data for existing records.

CSV Exports

Go to Settings > CSV Exports to request customer and program data exports by email.

Customer exports

You can export customer data and optionally include fields like:

  • Referral link

  • Earnings balance expiration date

You can also apply optional filters (for example status, balance ranges, and created-after date).

Program data exports

You can request date-range exports for data types like:

  • Points logs

  • VIP tier logs

  • Membership enrollments

  • Subscription contracts and billing attempts

  • Favorites

  • Cashback opt-ins

  • Balance redemptions

Large exports can take time to process, and export requests are rate-limited.

Webhooks

Go to Settings > Webhooks to send loyalty event notifications to your endpoint.

If your plan includes webhooks, you can:

  • Add a webhook

  • Choose an event type

  • Set the destination URL

  • Enable or disable an existing webhook

  • Send a test webhook

  • Copy your secret token

Only one active webhook per event type is allowed.

For full testing steps, see Test Your Webhook Endpoint.

Multipass Login

Go to Settings > Multipass Login to configure passwordless login flows for eligible stores.

If Multipass is available on your plan and store setup, you can:

  • Add your Multipass secret

  • Customize login and verification text

  • Set the return path after successful login

  • Configure verification code expiration time

  • Customize styling options for the login experience

POS Extensions

Go to Settings > POS Extensions to control POS-specific behavior.

Current options include:

  • Disable Refunds in POS extension settings

  • Auto-convert POS customers to Members

When enabled, customers who place orders through Shopify POS can be converted to member status automatically.

Troubleshooting

Go to Settings > Troubleshooting and use Sync Store when you need to force a fresh sync of your app setup.

This is especially useful after major config updates or when expected storefront changes are delayed.

For a full sync guide, see How to sync your settings.

Common questions

Do I need to configure every page in Settings?

No. Most stores only use a subset. Start with General, then enable additional pages based on your program and integrations.

Why do I see upgrade prompts on some settings pages?

Some settings are plan-dependent. If a feature is not included in your current plan, Rivo will show an upgrade prompt on that page.

I changed a setting but the storefront did not update immediately. What should I do?

Run Settings > Troubleshooting > Sync Store first. If needed, follow the sync guide linked above.
