Introduction
Syncing your Rivo settings ensures that your loyalty program displays correctly and data flows properly between Rivo and your other systems. There are several types of syncing available in Rivo that serve different purposes. This guide explains when and how to use each sync option.
Store Sync
Store sync refreshes key Rivo-to-Shopify app data and helps resolve common storefront display and connection issues. Use store sync in these situations:
After changing your theme (run Sync Theme first, then Sync Store)
When loyalty widgets aren’t displaying correctly
After enabling or changing your Rivo app embed setup
When troubleshooting loyalty program display or sync behavior
How to sync your store
From the dashboard, go to Settings.
Select Troubleshooting , then click Sync Store.
Wait a few moments while syncing is in progress.
The notice below will change from ‘ Syncing…’ to ‘ Successfully synced’ when the process is completed.
💡 Pro Tip: If you've made changes to multiple settings, running a store sync is a good way to ensure all changes are properly applied.
Integration Syncs
Integration syncs update customer data between Rivo and your connected integrations like Klaviyo, Postscript, and others. Many integrations include a manual sync button so you can trigger a customer sync when needed.
When to use integration syncs
After connecting a new integration
When customer data needs to be updated with an integration
If you notice missing customer data in your marketing platform
📝 Note: You can only run manual sync once per hour for each integration. Many integration updates also run automatically from loyalty events in the background.
How to sync integrations
From the dashboard, go to Integrations.
Select a supported integration with a Data Sync card (for example, Klaviyo or Postscript).
Find the Data Sync card on the right side of the page.
Click Sync Customers.
You’ll see a confirmation message that syncing has been queued.
✨ Each integration syncs different types of loyalty data. Check our integration-specific help docs to learn what data is synced with each platform.
Shopify Tagging Syncs
Shopify Tagging syncs ensure that customer and order tags in Shopify are updated based on your Rivo loyalty program. This helps you segment customers and add valuable loyalty data to your Shopify admin.
When to use Shopify tagging syncs
After enabling Shopify tagging features
To backfill tags for existing customers
When you’ve updated your VIP tier structure
How to sync Shopify tags
From the dashboard, go to Settings > Shopify Metafields & Tags.
After enabling your desired tagging options, scroll down to the Troubleshooting section.
Click Sync Store to backfill tags for existing customers and orders.

Common Questions
How often should I run a store sync?
You only need to run a store sync when making changes to your theme, experiencing display issues with loyalty widgets, or after enabling/updating features. It’s not necessary to sync regularly if everything is working correctly.
Why aren’t my loyalty widgets displaying correctly after changing my theme?
After updating your theme, you need to run a store sync to ensure all Rivo components are properly connected. Go to Settings > Troubleshooting and click Sync Store.
How long does it take for integration syncs to complete?
Integration syncs are processed in the background. Timing depends on your overall sync volume and customer count.
Can I sync multiple integrations at the same time?
Yes, you can queue sync operations for different integrations simultaneously. Each integration’s sync will be processed independently.
I’ve enabled VIP tier tagging but don’t see the tags in Shopify. What should I do?
After enabling VIP tier tagging, you need to initiate a sync to backfill tags for existing customers and orders. Go to Settings > Shopify Metafields & Tags and click Sync Store. New tiers unlocked after enabling the feature will be tagged automatically.
I can’t open Rivo from Shopify admin and I see “Session token fetch failed … Check permissions.” What should I do?
If Rivo won’t open inside Shopify admin, use this direct login link to access your dashboard outside the embedded admin view:
Replace your-store.myshopify.com with your full myshopify domain (for example, example.myshopify.com).
You can keep working in Rivo from this link while you resolve the Shopify admin issue. If needed, also try clearing browser cookies, opening an incognito window, re-authenticating the app, and confirming your Shopify staff app permissions.
