Introduction
For brands, having control over the various aspects of their Loyalty program is crucial, including determining participant eligibility. Depending on the customer account experience you select, this setting allows you to decide whether to enable only members or both members and guests to earn points.

Program participants overview
Your loyalty program can be set up to include either:
Members only (default): Only customers with store accounts can participate
All customers: Both members and guest customers can participate
Classic customer account experience
If you're on the classic customer account experience:
Members β Customers must enable a classic customer account to earn and redeem points, access their Loyalty information, join the VIP Program, and receive emails.
All customers β Guest customers will be also rewarded with points for completing some actions, but they will not access their Loyalty information or redeem points unless they become members.
If you want your guests to be eligible for a VIP Tier and receive emails based on their rewarded actions, optionally check Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs.
New customer account experience
If you're on the new customer account experience:
All customers β Any customer who logs into their account using their email and one-time verification code will be identified as a guest. These customers will earn and redeem points, access their Loyalty information, join the VIP Program, and receive emails.

Updating program participants
Customize your Loyalty program to best fit the needs of your store and customer base.
From the Rivo Dashboard, go to Settings > General
In Program Participants, please choose between two options:
Members
All customers
If you're using the new customer account version, please check Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs
Click Save.
π Note: By default, the program participants are members only.

Common questions
Can I change the program participants after my Loyalty program has been launched?
Yes, you can change the participation setting anytime by going to the General Settings section.
Can members and guests earn points for the same actions?
In the classic account version, guests can earn points after some actions but not all of them. Only members can fully enjoy the benefits of the Points program. Please refer to Rivo features for the classic and new customer accounts to learn more.
Can guests redeem rewards?
Only guests in the new customer account version can redeem points. Guests in the classic account version must sign up to access rewards. Please read more about it at Managing customer accounts for your Loyalty program.
Do guests get notified when they earn points?
If you have selected 'All customers' as program participants, please make sure to check the option 'Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs'.
How does this setting affect my VIP tiers program?
If you select "Members only," only customers with classic accounts can progress through VIP tiers. If you select "All customers" and enable "Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs," both members and guests can join and progress through your VIP tiers program.

For stores using the new customer account experience, we recommend selecting "All customers" and enabling "Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs." This ensures all your customers can fully participate in your loyalty program.
