Introduction
Loyalty gift campaigns enable you to automatically distribute rewards to members of a selected VIP tier at a scheduled time. You choose the tier, select one or more rewards, and set the maximum number of each reward to distribute. When a campaign runs, each eligible member receives no more than one randomly selected reward while supplies last.
Before you begin
Create your rewards first. During setup, you'll assign quantities to rewards that already exist, so build the ones you want to give before you start. Only active members of the tier you select are eligible.
Know how many gifts you're sending. The total is the sum of the quantities you assign across all rewards. If the tier has more members than gifts, some won't receive one. If you set aside more gifts than there are members, the extras aren't sent.
Create a campaign
Open Loyalty Gift Campaigns in Rivo.
Click New Campaign.
Enter a Campaign Name for your own reference. This is internal only (e.g. "Gold tier – Holiday 2026").
Optional: Add a Message for recipients. This text appears in the loyalty gift email that's sent when a member receives their gift. If you leave it blank, the email simply omits the message. Keep in mind the message only reaches members if the loyalty gift email is enabled for your store.
Optional: Set Expires In Days. This is how long the reward stays valid after a member claims it, counting from the moment they claim rather than when the campaign runs. It defaults to 90 and can be set from 1 to 365.
Choose a Scheduled Time. The time is shown in your store's time zone, and it's when the campaign automatically creates and distributes gifts.
Select the VIP Tier whose active members should be eligible. Each campaign targets one tier.
Under Allocated Rewards, enter how many of each reward can be distributed. Leave the amount at 0 for rewards you want to exclude.
Save the campaign.
📝 Note: If you don't see any rewards to choose from, create at least one by going to Loyalty > Points > Ways to Redeem.
How reward allocation works
Set the quantity for each reward you want to include, and the campaign distributes them randomly, with each eligible member receiving at most one reward. As all units of a reward are allocated, increasing the likelihood that the remaining rewards will be assigned.
For example, a campaign with 50 free-shipping rewards and 25 percentage-off rewards can distribute up to 75 rewards in total. Members are assigned rewards at random based on the remaining inventory – you control the quantity of each reward, not which members receive them.
The total number of rewards distributed is limited by the smaller of:
The total reward inventory across all configured rewards.
The number of active members in the selected tier.
💡 Tip: To ensure every active member can receive a reward, configure a total reward quantity that is at least equal to the number of active members.
Review a campaign
The Loyalty Gift Campaigns page shows each campaign's status, selected VIP tier, scheduled time, and a "Sent" count for the gifts created by the campaign.
You can edit a campaign until it is completed. After completion, open the campaign to review the allocated rewards and see each recipient, their reward, and the gift status.
Campaign statuses include:
Scheduled – The campaign is waiting for its scheduled time.
Completed – Gifts have been created for eligible members.
Common questions
Does every member of the selected VIP tier receive a gift?
Only active members are eligible, and gifts are distributed while allocated rewards remain. If there are fewer gifts than eligible members, not every member will receive one.
Can a member receive multiple rewards from the same campaign?
No. Each eligible member can receive no more than one gift from a campaign.
Can I include several reward types?
Yes. Set an allocated amount for each reward you want to include. The campaign randomly selects among rewards with remaining allocations.
Do recipients get notified automatically?
They'll receive an email, including your optional message, if the loyalty gift email is enabled for your store. Whether or not the email sends, the gift is added to each member's account, so they can find and redeem it on their next visit.
What does "Expires In Days" actually apply to?
It's the validity window of the reward after a member redeems the gift, not a deadline to claim it. Set between 1 and 365 days; defaults to 90.
Can I edit a campaign before it runs?
Yes. A campaign can be edited any time before it completes, including while it's Scheduled. Once it's Completed, it's read-only.
