Targeting loyalty offers by product, segment, tier, or membership

Introduction

Targeted loyalty offers help you reward the right customers at the right time.

With Rivo, you can target offers by products in an order, Shopify customer segments, VIP tiers, and membership status. You can also use Shopify Flow for more custom audience logic.




What you can target natively

Product-targeted offers

You can target specific products in a few different ways:

  • Bonus Campaigns: Apply bonus multipliers to selected products.

  • Bonus Campaigns (Required Products): Only run the campaign when at least one selected product is in the order.

  • Product Purchased earning rules: Award points when an order matches product, collection, and/or product tag criteria.

Segment-targeted offers

Rivo supports Shopify segment targeting in multiple places:

  • Bonus Campaigns: Limit the campaign to one Shopify segment.

  • Cashback Offers: Set a Shopify segment for who can qualify.

  • Points or Credit Drops: Send a one-time drop to a Shopify segment.

This is useful for campaigns like “repeat buyers only” or “VIP email subscribers only.”

VIP tier-targeted offers

You can target by VIP tier using:

  • Tier-specific earning setups

  • Tier-based multipliers

  • Points/Credit Drops to a specific VIP tier

Bonus Campaigns also include a setting to ignore tier multipliers when you want one consistent campaign multiplier for everyone.

Membership-targeted offers

For paid membership programs, you can create member-specific earning behavior and benefits for each membership tier.

This supports member-only promotions, including tier-based earning rates for subscribed members.

Audience-based one-time campaigns

Points/Credit Drops support these audience types:

  • All customers

  • Loyalty members

  • Customers with at least one order

  • A specific VIP tier

  • A Shopify segment

Use this when you want a one-time reward campaign instead of a permanent earning rule.




What needs a custom workflow

Subscription-app-specific targeting (for example, Recharge-specific logic)

In standard loyalty targeting screens, filters are based on Shopify products, segments, VIP tiers, and membership status.

If you need targeting based on subscription-app-specific fields or custom subscription rules, use:

  • Shopify Flow

  • Custom API workflows

  • Rivo support for implementation guidance




Example setups

Example: Product-specific cashback campaign

  1. Create a Shopify segment for the audience that should be eligible.

  2. Create a Cashback Offer and attach that segment.

  3. Set the cashback earning amount and approval delay.

  4. Launch and monitor opt-ins and approvals from the Cashback Offer activity view.


Example: Member-only bonus promotion

  1. Create a Bonus Campaign for your desired time window.

  2. Add multiplier rules for the earning actions you want to boost.

  3. Use advanced targeting to narrow by products and/or segment as needed.

  4. If needed, adjust VIP multiplier behavior so campaign math is consistent across tiers.


Example: Highly custom audience logic

  1. Build audience logic in Shopify Flow.

  2. Trigger the loyalty action (such as adding points or credits) through your Flow automation.

  3. Test with a small customer set before rolling out broadly.
