Introduction
In this guide, we’ll explore how to customize your loyalty program using Rivo’s Advanced Settings for Ways to Earn. These settings allow you to personalize earning rule titles and descriptions, hide individual rules from on-site displays, and define specific actions when users interact with supported cards on your Loyalty Landing Page.
Advanced Settings Guide
Advanced Settings are available on paid plans for most native ways to earn. Free plan users will see an upgrade prompt.
Custom Action and Visit URL rules use their own setup fields instead of this Advanced Settings panel. Depending on the rule type, some settings may appear directly in the rule’s main setup form.

Hide from on-site displays
Hide the earning rule from customer-facing on-site displays, such as ways-to-earn sections in the widget and Loyalty Landing Page. The rule remains active unless the rule depends on customers clicking its on-site card.

📝 Note: Be careful when hiding a Visit URL rule. Customers earn from Visit URL rules by clicking the on-site card, so hiding that card can prevent customers from completing the action.

📝 Note: Landing Page Click Actions apply to the Landing Page only and won't have any effect on the Dedicated Page or Floating Widget.
Open Modal (Default) - the default behavior; opens the Rivo modal.
Open New Tab - opens a new tab to a URL you can specify.
Add Hash to URL - add a hash to the landing page url, e.g. to open a third-party modal or popup.
Scroll to ID on page - scrolls to a specific element on the landing page, e.g. the ID of the Rivo Referrals block.
None - no action taken when a user clicks the card.
The URL field appears when you choose Open New Tab, Add Hash to URL, or Scroll to ID on page. For hash and scroll actions, enter the target with a #, such as #referrals.
Common Questions
Why is there no Click Action for the Sign Up and Celebrate Loyalty Anniversary Ways to Earn?
These activities are automatically completed when a user joins the program and on the anniversary of their joining. Therefore, no additional user action is required to complete them, making the process seamless and user-friendly.
Are these Advanced Settings available for Custom Actions?
Custom Actions use their own setup fields instead of this Advanced Settings panel.
Can I target earning rules to specific customer tags or segments?
No. Ways to Earn rules apply the same way to all eligible loyalty participants, and can’t be limited by customer tags or customer segments.
If you want different earn rates for different groups of customers, use Custom Ways to Earn for VIP Tiers.
